Our Ministries

Steward Board

The Steward Board is composed of persons appointed by the pastor who know and love the Word of God, the African Methodist Episcopal Church, and the Doctrine and Discipline of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. The Steward Board attends to the Spiritual and financial health of the church. They assist the Pastor and ministerial staff in carrying out the church program that fosters and increases spiritual maturity in the body.

Trustee Board
The members of the Trustee Board are elected to manage all temporal concerns of the church. Our Trustees are spiritual leaders who are charged with the care of the church property.
Stewardess Board
The primary functions of the stewardesses are to assist the stewards in the discharge of their duties related to the rituals of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, specifically to provide the necessary implements and elements for Holy Communion and Holy Baptism. The Stewardesses also assist in distributing Communion to the sick and shut-in, as well as nursing homes, with assigned clergy staff.
 Bible Study
Members of UNITED and the community are invited to attend our weekly Bible Study, led by our Pastor. It provides opportunities to gain a deeper understanding of God's word, build a more intimate relationship with Christ, and strengthen one's faith walk.
Food Pantry
In association with the Dayton Food Bank, our Food Pantry distributes food to feed over 75 families (approximately 300 Individuals) per month, valued at over $123,000 annually. Church and community volunteers utilize church facilities to receive food from The Food Bank and Kroger of Xenia, individually package the food by family unit, and assist participants in loading packages into their cars.
Caring and Sharing - Dinner Ministry
Volunteers prepare and serve meals to all community members who wish to receive them. Luke 3:11 -” He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.
Christian Education Department (CED)
The Christian Education Department serves as an umbrella for the development of programs and resources that encourage and support Christian Growth. The mission of Christian Education is to teach, train, and encourage our members to engage in Christian witness and ministries that are spiritually nurturing and culturally relevant, both within the church and the community. Assisting members in identifying gifts and talents for kingdom building is effective Christian Education.
Church School Ministry
The Church School Mission is to teach, train, nurture, prepare, and recruit children and adults in God’s word for Christian Service. This teaching, under the direction of Christian Education, aims to equip students with the skills for effective living, a Christian faith, and leadership in a changing society. We follow the Great Commission: Matthew 28:18-20; Jesus said, “All power is given unto me in heaven & on earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.”

Class Leaders
The United A.M.E. Church Class Leaders are dedicated members who are focused on the tasks of providing spiritual support and guidance to the members of the church. The pastor chooses Class Leaders to serve and communicate the needs of the congregation, which extends to fulfilling the mission of Jesus Christ in preparing for God’s Kingdom. They are the Interface between the ministerial staff and the members of the Church.

Dance Ministry
The United Dance Ministry is dedicated to doing the Lord's will by 1) learning and applying His word and commands; 2) offering themselves to the service of Christ, and 3) honoring the Lord with praise and worship through dance.  Service to the Lord is the primary motivation. The participants are young, yet more than willing to learn.
Golden Saints - Caring for our Seniors
This ministry, which focuses on senior adults, has grown to become a vital and contributing part of the overall growth and ministry of the UNITED A.M.E. church and the community. To add new people to God’s kingdom and church membership from the unchurched senior population to seniors within the church by utilizing their spiritual gifts and God-given talents in ministry, service of the church, and our community.  Our community of God’s love encourages fun, security, helps eliminate loneliness, and gives a sense of belonging.
Mildred Payne-Johnson Lay Organization
The purpose of the Lay Organization is to organize and train the lay members (non-clergy) so that each may develop a love and appreciation for the history, traditions, and principles of the AME Church.

Ware-Smith Missionary Society
The Women’s Missionary Society of the Third Episcopal District is one of the most important and most viable components of the Church. The Society is commissioned to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ locally and worldwide, making disciples and bringing people into fellowship through introduction, conversion, and baptism. “Missions” are helping. Helping, however, is not an end in and of itself; it is rather a means to an end. In essence, missions is an extension of the “Great Commission,” which is to go into the world and preach the Gospel in word and deed to every creature. It is reaching, helping, sharing, and leading people to a commitment to Jesus Christ.
Multi-Media Ministry
Our multimedia ministry is comprised of the audio, photographic, video, graphic, computer, and web technology systems and personnel needed to support our ministry needs. We continually update and add new systems and technologies to enhance the reach of teaching God’s Word. The multimedia ministry is continually looking for people to fill a variety of “behind the scenes” positions that are critical for the presentation of God’s Word through online media.

New Members Class
It is an introductory course into the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) church history, structure, and the Articles of Religion as per our Doctrine and Discipline of our denomination. The goals are to deepen individuals' relationship with Christ by understanding what we believe, and to get to know ourselves in the process. All new members are expected to complete the New Member Class.
Prayer Warrior Ministry
The Prayer Warriors Ministry is a group of God’s people who regularly intercede on behalf of others before God through prayer.  A prayer warrior acts as a “spiritual defense attorney” by appealing to “God’s Higher Court” on behalf of those in need. Because God has proven merciful, we call on Him for intervention. Our ministry members pray daily for our Pastor, the pastor’s family, our church, church leaders, and a list of God’s people who are sick, shut-in, or in loss. We are here to encourage all who need prayer.
Transportation Ministry
The UNITED A.M.E. Transportation Ministry is an outreach ministry designed to provide shuttle service to members of the church and community to and from our Christ-centered activities.
We take seriously our stewardship of providing quality Christian transportation to the our local community and college campuses! Your Christian mobility and livability are our primary concern.

Usher Board Ministry
“I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God….” Psalm 84:10
As an official representative of UNITED A.M.E. Church and of Jesus Christ, the ushers have an enormous obligation in helping to lead the people into readiness for Learning, Worshiping, and Evangelism. The ushers' primary purpose is to keep perfect order in and around the Church at all times during services.
Mission: Our mission is to meet the worshipers with a pleasant smile, a warm welcome, and direct them to their seats. Our goal is to assist the Pastor in making every service a time of worship and praise for Christ.
Young Peoples Division (YPD)
The YOUNG PEOPLE and CHILDREN’S DIVISION (Y.P.D.) is a youth organization, established in October 1915, under the auspices of the Women’s Missionary Society of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. The purpose of the Y.P.D. is to interest Christian Youth in discovering opportunities for witnessing in today’s world and put their Christian convictions into action in all of their daily relationships.
